A God of Second Chances

Last month, during my Bible reading, I was struck by how much I appreciate the prefix “re-“. It gives birth to such beautiful words: restore, rebuild, remake, reconcile, redeem, remember, revive, rebirth, and resurrect.

It speaks of starting again, giving a second chance, and showing grace when unexpected and undeserved. We are desperately in need of God’s mercy and patience on a daily basis. Andrew Murray once said, “It’s not sin that humbles us most, but grace.” “Re-” is tied to the promise of a better world, a better tomorrow, which is ours only through Christ Jesus.

Which word is your personal favorite?
Which word would you add to the list?
